You should protect your login information, username and password for Remote Deposit Capture in the same manner as you would protect your login information for other online banking services. You should also purchase and maintain commercial Anti-Virus and Malware protection for any computer in your business that will be used to scan and transmit check images. Please refer to your Remote Deposit Capture Agreement for terms and conditions and merchant responsibilities.
What types of checks can be deposited using Remote Deposit Capture?

  • Checks or items payable to any person or entity other than to Merchant
  • Checks or items drawn on foreign financial institutions or payable other than in United States currency
  • Checks or other items containing apparent alteration to any of the information on the front of the check or item, or which Merchant knows or suspects (or should know or suspect) are fraudulent or otherwise not authorized by the owner of the account on which the check is drawn
  • Original Checks or other items previously converted to a Substitute Check
  • Checks or items that are Remotely Created Checks (as defined in Reg. CC)

Why do checks need to be endorsed with 'For The Bank of Glen Burnie Mobile Deposit Only'?
This specific endorsement ensures that checks deposited through Remote Deposit Capture will not be deposited again at a Bank of Glen Burnie branch or at another financial institution. It is one of many security measures we have put in place to protect customer accounts from theft and fraud. Checks that are not endorsed as specified will be rejected by The Bank of Glen Burnie. The Bank of Glen Burnie will provide each customer enrolled in Remote Deposit Capture with a stamp that must be used to indicate the deposit is being processed by remote deposit capture.
Are there any limits on the dollar amount of deposits I can submit?
Yes. Limits and thresholds will be determined after review and analysis of account statements. You may only use the service to deposit items within your individual approved limits. Any items presented in excess of the limits will be declined.
How late in the day can I make a deposit and still receive same day credit?
The cut-off time for same-day deposits is 3:00 PM (ET), excluding weekends and holidays. Items deposited after 3:00 PM (ET) will be processed the following business day. Saturdays, Sundays and Federal Holidays are not considered business days for processing purposes.
How many checks can be scanned per deposit?
The Bank of Glen Burnie recommends 200 checks or less per deposit.
What happens if a check is processed more than once?
The software is designed to compare each check to the previous checks you have deposited. If a possible duplicate item is found, you will be alerted and corrective action will need to be taken.
How far back does duplicate detection go?
Duplicate detection occurs for all items that were captured via Remote Deposit Capture by the same merchant. Duplicate detection at the moment of capture does not take place against items scanned by other merchants since reviewing a duplicate requires the viewing of both items. The image retention period is 45 days and the data retention period is 180 days.
How do I know that my deposit has been made?
Deposits made using Remote Deposit Capture will be subject to verification and The Bank of Glen Burnie funds availability policy. Customers should monitor their account activity, review statements and utilize the reports that are available within the Remote Deposit Capture application. From the Deposit Status Screen, customers can view and download summary reports.
What is the process if a check is rejected during the scanning process?
You will receive a reject message during the scan that will require you to remove the item from the batch in order to continue. The item will need to be deposited at your local BOGB branch.
How are returns handled?
Deposited items being returned follow the same return process as deposited items at a teller window. A substitute return check is created and sent back to the depositor.
What do I do with the check once it has been scanned? When do I destroy the checks?
The Bank of Glen Burnie will require you to retain the items you deposit remotely for a period of time before you must destroy them. Once checks have been scanned, the original checks should be securely stored for a period of 75 days. Checks must be destroyed by shredding after 75 days. Your company will need to set policies for the proper storage and methods for securely destroying the original paper checks. Refer to your BofGB Remote Deposit Capture Agreement for details. Page 10-11 in our Remote Deposit Starter Kit Guide contains a list of guidelines for securely storing checks.
Who do I call if I have technical problems or issues making deposits using Remote Deposit Capture?
For assistance please contact your BofGB representative that is listed on your enrollment paperwork or the BOGB customer support label found on your Remote Deposit Capture scanner.
What type of maintenance is required with my scanner?
BOGB will provide a complimentary cleaning kit with a Bank provided scanner. Customers are responsible for properly maintaining the scanner and purchasing replacement ink cartridges and cleaning/maintenance supplies. It is very important to maintain a clean scanner to ensure the images you submit for deposit are readable and will process successfully. Dust or other small particles may obscure the scanner sensors which could result in poor image quality. Please note, it is important to always look at checks before they are scanned to make sure there are no staples or paper clips. If these types of items run through the scanner, damage to the scanner may result. Please review the maintenance guidelines of your scanner to found in your user manual to ensure optimal performance.
